Welcome

                                                       Hello everyone!

This is the first post for my blog about my travels before setting off on a five and a half month adventure in Southeast Asia. I am super pumped to do this because I get to visit all these amazing places while allowing you guys to be there with me every step of the way!! :)

I should have done this for my other trips but it's never too late. So here we go.
It is Wednesday, May 2nd, which means we are T minus three days until my backpacking, Asian culture infusion begins. I must say that I am not prepared for it all. Yup, I am not even packed yet and the only head start I have is my new backpack and Southeast Asia on a Shoestring guide book. So I've got some work to do.

This past weekend I had an amazing going away party and was blessed to have so many of my good friends come and share their time with me. So thank you to those of you who missed work, switched shifts, flew in from far away, took long bus rides and to those who are my fellow townies. Thanks so much for spending a wonderful day/night with me and making some unforgettable memories before my trip. Although the weather wasn't as nice as I hoped it would be, you guys still braved it and came by and warmed your awesome selves by the fire and had a grand ol' time. You guys rock! I missed all of you who were not able to make it.

I am very much looking forward to sharing the next five and a half months of my life with you! :)
Let the countdown begin!

P.s. Congratulations to my lovely cousin Emma and her wonderful husband Polo with welcoming into their lives a healthy baby girl!!!!! Can't wait to see her! :D

    Sorry I missed your going away party, but I'm sure you can tell me all sorts of fun stories at your welcome home party.

I had these ideas of where I was in terms of my yoga practice understanding, the spirituality of it, my flexibility and many other elements that are involved in the practice of yoga, but all of that knowledge was shaken up today. There is so much that I need to learn and understand about this practice which has existed for thousands of years. All the knowledge that I thought I had needs to be put aside and I need to be like a child. Goodmorning Bangkok!

So here I am, back in the city where my Asian odyssey began. Good old Bangkok! I didn't get to explore it much the first time around because of the sensory overload my first day in Asia. I ran away from this city screaming for air, fresh air that is and more space with less people. But now, since I've been around the block a little, the Asia block that is, I feel ready to take on this beast. So I am giving it a proper chance this time. I have four and a half days to run around Bangkok and see why this city is all about. The journey from Koh Pangan took a total of 19 long hours. One boat and two bus rides later, I pulled up next to Kao San Road a little after 7am surprisingly rested and ready to take on the city. I got myself and a nice tuktuk driver who ripped me off only a little bit and went for a fresh air ride through the city to my destination; the Siam Journey guesthouse.
