So far so good or I love not having a plan!

2nd day in Bangkok:

30baht delicious soup for breakfast at a street stall
14baht 1.5liter bottle of water
26baht tuktuk ride to the train station
28baht train from Bangkok to Lampuri aka monkey town
15baht the best little rum & raisin waffle at the train station

So far, I've spent 113baht which is $3.45, awesome :). I guess it's quite a lot considering it's only 10am. However, I'm going to a new place and will be heading to Northern Thailand from there. Bangkok was just too distracting and loud. I want to be in the real Thailand, where the simple way of life is still practiced and where people look at you strange when you enter their town.

I am really looking forward to some fresh air, exotic animals and peaceful day without tuktuk drivers yelling at you, trying to get you to get in and pay way too much baht for a ride down the street.

On a side note, I can't believe that I'm actually in Thailand!! This trip seemed like such a far away dream and now I'm living it and already loving it. When I took my things out of my backpack, I quickly realized that I overpacked a bit. I took a few too many warm clothes since it is over 90 degrees everyday and pants are not an option, unless you are going to a temple, where you would have to wear long pants and long sleeves. It's ok though, I'll leave some stuff behind. Someone will use it. I am currently sitting on a train with two great guys I met at my hostel in Bangkok. Well, actually one of them I met while looking for this illusive hostel. Jacob from the UK was also looking for the Overstay hostel. It seemed that no matter whom we asked for directions, they all had a hard time admitting that they didn't know at all where the street we were looking for was, so instead they would wave their hand in the general direction in which we were already headed and they point to the left or the right. But we finally found the god forsaken place. But not before stumbling upon a dead baby kitten with one eye popped open. I guess it happens more often than not, in Bangkok. There are many kittens just running around wild and with the crazy drivers in the city, kitties and humans alike, don't stand a chance. Let's just say, you better speed up when you're crossing the street or you will collide with a taxi or a tuktuk and you might be able to guess who will win...
So myself, Jacob and Alfredo from Mexico/Houston who was in my dorm, are heading to Lampuri to explore the town and meet, from what people say, hundreds of spider monkeys. Originally I was going to do this as a day trip and then come back to Bangkok. But it only took me a day to realize that this city is definitely not for me. Also this morning I've been up since 4:30am and could not go back to sleep. So instead of just laying there, trying not to move, trying not to breathe even because any movement results in ridiculous amounts of sweating, I went online and researched the surrounding cities. People so far have said that Northern Thailand is absolutely breathtaking with its misty lakes, mountains and of course, temples. So I have decided to go to the northern city of Lampuri and continue heading north after that. Why not! :)

Thanks for everyone who has checked in here so far and please continue reading, there's a lot more to come. This is only day two out of the next five and a half months. Probably what will be the best months of my life.
