What a lovely day for a splash

This day started out quite well I must say. I slept pretty late today, almost until 8am!! For some reason I always end up rising early when I'm traveling. I think my body feels that I should get up and do something since I'm in a foreign country. I wouldn't want to sleep through my trip. I'll sleep when I'm dead.
So once I did get up, I had a couple failed attempts with Skype. And as always, the internet did not want to cooperate. After that, I got myself together and headed into town, which is a two minute walk across a wobbly bamboo bridge. There, I rented a bicycle for the day from the most adorable little Thai man. He knew quite a lot of English, especially for an older guy. So once he set up the bike for me, I headed down the road and across the bridge, on a mission to find a place called Fluid, which has a pool and other entertainment, all for a $1.50 for the day. I pedaled my way up and down a few hills and after about ten minutes, I reached my destination. Once I paid up, I realized that I had the whole place to myself. So I paid down one of the beach matts they provide and went in for a dip in the pool. It was so nice and refreshing since the day had reached 96 degrees with a really high humidity.
I sunbathed and relaxed by the pool for a few hours while flipping through some cool magazines such as, Vogue from India, and a couple of local publications.
It started raining later on so I was forced to hide out inside until it slowed down and then I made my way back to my place on my bicycle. Needless to say, by the time I got back, I was pretty soaked. At least it wasn't cold. Well, it usually cools down while it rains, but only to about 87. Not much of a relief, but it does make a difference. You can actually breathe a bit better.
That evening I went on a lovely date. I went to a beautiful local restaurant and ordered a sautéed vegetable and pork medley with white rice on the side and a nice cold, iced latte. I figured I'll indulge a bit. After all, I was on a date. I wore my new long dress that I got in Chiang Mai and had my hair down with my signature accessory; a flower in my hair. It's funny because I have received many compliments from locals and tourists alike, about the flowers I put in my hair (freshly picked every morning). I guess girls don't really do that here. So I had a lovely evening with some good company. Ok, so I didn't get a good night kiss but I'm fine with that. Me, myself and I went home together and finished off the evening in bed with a few chapters of my current read, April and Oliver.
The next day I went back to Fluid to catch some more sun and swim in the pool. It was another lovely day. That's how they usually start out here. Nice and sunny but eventually the rain moves in. There were quite a few people by the pool today. Including a large group of people from the same hostel, called Spicy Pai. I heard about it and originally was going to go there but then found the cheap bungalows for only 100baht so I never did go there. But I ended up chatting with a young fellow from Newfoundland, Canada who was also staying at the Spicy hostel. Brad was his name and the only reason I ever remembered his name was because he said 'I'm Brad, like Brad Pitt'. I guess associations are good. I should do that when I meet people whose names I would like to remember, relate them to something well know. I'll try to remember that.
Unfortunately, I didn't had enough time on my hands to convince Mr. Pitt to quit his job and move to an exotic country to live but hopefully he'll figure that out on his own! :) So as it did on days before, the rain came in the afternoon. The pool was actually a warmer place to hang out in compared to the outside temperature. That is where everyone was. Soaking in the pool. I eventually got out to order some food inside and sat down to sip on a nice, warm cup of jasmine green tea. Apparently there was a birthday celebration going on for couple of the little kids who were by the pool with their parents. When my sandwich was brought out, this beautiful Arabic music came on. One of the women there was dressed in what looked like a traditional (a bit revealing) Indian costume. She started belly dancing right in front of where I was sitting down to eat lunch, which was great. I got a short video of that and the pool.
After that, Brad Pitt mentioned that him and other people from the Spicy hostel are going to a roast somewhere by the cascading waterfalls I mentioned before. So I came along. Unfortunately I had just eaten so I wasn't hungry for any of the food, but it looked delicious. I figured I'll check out the bar since I wasn't eating. And to my surprise, they actually had white wine! In Asia, beer is their popular choice of alcohol. For that reason I haven't really had any alcohol since I've been here since I am not too fond of beer. So I ended up getting a nice chilled glass of white wine from South Africa. Let me tell you, it hit the spot. I didn't realize how much I missed sipping on wine until I had some then. Oh, how could I forget to mention, that all of this tool place at a Piranha Fishing Park. Yup, people come there, rent some fishing gear and hope to get lucky with some sharp toothed fishies. I didn't really see any except for when they kept jumping out of the water once in a while. But I took some pictures around the area. It's a nice little place. A bit odd. It had a very cool driveway though which was lined with little pineapple bushes. Each one of the little shrubs had a cute little pineapple growing out of it. Pretty cool, never saw one before :)
After I got a ride back to my side of town by a very kind Mr. Brad Pitt (thank you!!) I headed to my place and hung out in the hammock for a bit which hurt my back quite a bit since my back was nice and sunburned... I got a message from Megha, my plane travel buddy, who I haven't seen since We split up in Bangkok and coinsidently, she ended up crashing at the Spicy Pai hostel also. But I didn't see her that night since the sun had taken all of my energy, combined with that nice glass of wine (I know, super light weight haha), made for a lazy evening for this cat.
It's all good though. I had a great day I the sun and in the rain :)
