My last day in Pai
So I got my first bikini wax in Thailand and let me tell you, next time I might pay extra couple bucks for a nicer place. Then again who knows, maybe they're all similar. I ended up shelling out a whole $13 for a bikini and underarm wax. I'm not big on complaining, especially in Asia but... the wax was barely warm and she used a kitchen spoon to spread the wax! So it hurt everytime she was spreading the wax. So the final result was ok. She got the job done...barely though. Oh well. It'll do for now.
So I've decided to head to Chiang Rai tomorrow, via Chiang Mai. I'll get myself on some elephant over there and have a little bit of an adventure. I am also waiting to hear from a place out Northeast of Thailand, right near Laos border, a small town called Nong Khai. There is a volunteer organization there and I would like to volunteer there for the rest of my time in Thailand. So hopefully I hear back from them soon! :)
Today is my laundry day. Washing clothes the old fashioned way; hand wash. No, not the setting on the washing machine :) bucket and soap. Now they're all drying as I am laying down on the front porch of my bungalow, in a bathing suit and with the fan from inside blowing on me, because the heat is unbearable. And the bathing suit, well, my clothes are drying... :)
The sun is shining but I can hear the rumble of thunder from far away in the mountains. Hopefully it holds off a bit so my clothes can dry.
So earlier today, when I was getting snacks for tomorrow's bus ride, I walked by a scale and my curiosity was peaked. So I paid one baht and stepped on the scale. As I braced myself for the number to come up, I was squinting my eyes but when I saw the number stop, I was pleasantly surprised. I lost eleven pounds in exactly two weeks. Sweet! This heat must really do the trick because I can't I've been eating too healthy. I mean I've been eating fruit everyday; watermelon for breakfast, followed by a mango and pineapple smoothie. But the rest of it has been lots of fried rice, pork, spring rolls and other fried things... So it must be a combination of all these things. Works for me :) so all of you who are struggling to lose those last few pounds or if you need to lose more than that, consider making a trip out here. It'll be cheaper than surgery and the only side effects you'll have here is lots of sweating. Not a bad price to pay.
