Moments in time

My mind races as I jump from one thought to another and to yet another. I am completely at peace yet my thoughts can't slow down. It's not nerves. It's something else. Knowledge maybe? Knowing how life is, how it could be and how I hope it will never be. Like trees sitting peacefully in the jungle, undisturbed and quiet. Waiting for something that might never come. An afternoon breeze or maybe a beautiful bird passing by. Life is full of chance meetings and by taking one step to the left, you might have dismissed your chances of your chance meeting. Whatever it was going to be, now it will not be. But something else will come out of it and you'll have a chance meeting, just a different one. You will not be aware of any of it. You will continue living your life as you have and continue walking down the path that you have chosen or you think you have chosen.
People say that fate is what determines where our paths will lead us. But what if one day you wake up and you're just not feeling like yourself. You will probably do things a bit differently that day. You go off your regular path. You might take a detour. But who's to say that the detour will lead you back to your original destination? We don't know. We can only speculate and wonder 'What if...?'
Every decision we make, reflects our thought process which led to the making of that decision. Sometimes we take our time to decided but sometimes we just dive right in. Sometimes that turns out to be a mistake and we learn from it. But other times, those impulse decisions lead us to the greatest moments which will never be forgotten.
The possibilities are endless. When we look back into our past, there are certain moments that we will remember for as long as we live. And some, will be washed away by the strong current of years passing by. Unfortunately we can't really choose what events we remember. I'm sure we all have those strange and very random memories that pop back into our minds after hearing a certain word, sound or recognizing a smell, which for whatever reason brings you right back to a time where something happened. If you close your eyes, you could almost feel yourself being there in the flesh.
Moments that are happening right now, may as well be one of those memories down the line. Maybe someone opened a door for you when you were clearly struggling, maybe someone went out of their way to give you directions or maybe, it was a simple smile from a complete stranger on the worst day of your life. Whatever it may be, these moments we're living right now can become an everlasting memory someday. So pay attention to what is going on around you, be kind and become part of those moments for someone else. You will never know whether you've made an impact on someone's life but the gratification sometimes isn't the acknowledgement of the act of kindness. It's the possibility of leaving an imprint in someone's day, memory, or maybe even their heart.
