Banana chocolate pancake drizzled with some rain :)
So here I am at one in the afternoon, standing under a rooftop during a massive downpour on Khao San Road. Why am I here? Well, I decided to wander the second time around without a backpack. Last time I was here was five months ago and I was looking for a place to stay.
I was planning on exploring the infamous neighborhood and then boarding one of the river boats for some cruising of the all the palaces from the distance without all the tourists. But this weather decided to say a sturdy "No" to that plan.
This morning was the earliest I've gotten up in Bangkok. At the ungodly hour of four in the morning I was already wide awake. I laid in bed til 4:45am which seemed like a semi acceptable time to get out of bed.
I used my early morning time to use the communal computer at my guesthouse and transfer photos from my memory card into my memory stick. Double protection and all. After some breakfast and hanging out, I headed out to just walk around and get something to eat.
I ended up having a delicious soup and a coconut at a small morning market down the road, near Phaya Thai BTS station. After, I just started walking west towards the King's Royal Palace and the zoo. Once I reached the palace, I walked by quickly due to the heavy security every few meters with some serious machine guns. I decided to pass on the zoo, since I've seen the coolest zoo I've ever been to, which was in Singapore.
I also stopped at a couple different temples and little park areas.
When I finally arrived to the Khao San area, I started running into flocks of tourists. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the absence of foreigners in the area where I am staying, until I got here.

I found a place which did some nice face treatments as well as waxing so I stopped in there and got an amazing deal. When I walked out of there, it was still raining so I stumbled upon this tiny hole in the wall eatery and had myself a delicious spicy noodle soup and the company of two lovely Thai women. The place was packed so they were forced to sit with me :p the older one kept looking at me and giving me a strange look. After the third time I smiled at her scowl, she broke into a huge beautiful toothless grin. Mission accomplished.
So decisions, decisions... What to do now... I guess I'll continue walking down streets that have roofs over the sidewalk and slowly make my way back. I need to go to the post office and ship all of my summer clothes back as well as presents and souvenirs I got while here in Bangkok.
A little later...

The rain slowed down a bit and I decided to walk back. The rain kept coming down in intervals of light rain to very strong. I was looking for a place to stop and get a massage but the only thing I ended up getting was a banana pancake with condensed milk and chocolate. Taste bud sensory overload, it was so great!! :D
oh how I'll miss Thailand...
