Touring Singapore in style ;)
A kick scooter tour of Singapore. Never thought I'd be doing that. It was
sure the best way to spend my last night in Singapore. In the company of
wonderful people from The InnCrowd Hostel, while seeing the city in a
way that only a few have a chance to.
The tour started at 5:30pm and consisted of eight tourists including myself and one guide from InnCrowd. We didn't get back to the hostel til after 10pm so it was a fun filled and very active evening.
Since I sent my shoes home last time I was shipping things in Malaysia, all I had for footwear were my old, worn out flip flops. When I wear them, my toe walks on the ground and not on the shoe itself. Anyway, I don't mind them because they've travelled the world with me, you know, they have history. I know, I know, it's only a rubber shoe but still.
So getting back to the story, flip flops are not a good choice of footwear while kicking around with a scooter. Luckily I didn't get injured. I'm surprised, because that's my thing. I get hurt doing fun activities. So the scooter that I was assigned was really small and was especially hard to manoeuvre one; because of its size, two; because it was my first time on a scooter and two; because I was wearing flip flops. Luckily, my room mate Tim switched scooters with me so I was able to at least attempt the tour. Thank you Tim!! :)
After multiple wobbly turns and silly looking attempts to stop, I slowly got a hang of it. We were covering so much distance and seeing so many things that normally would take about two days.
We went to different historical sites, famous shopping plazas, the Wishing Fountain and a few light shows.
That was where people get to walk into the middle of the fountain and walk around four times while touching the water streaming in the middle while focusing on their wish. Superstition or not, I made sure I did it and with a smile on my face.
We later went to see the Giant Supertrees, light up the Singapore skyline with a free night show of light and music.
It's a great way to spend an evening in Singapore AND it's all free!
After all the excitement of seeing so much of the city, we all sat down at a night market for some delicious satay after which we headed to Chinatown by the river and wandered through the brightly lit streets with many people enjoying the beautiful night as well as the clever and fun displays of the twelve animals representing the Chinese years.
It was a great night with only a few bruises and a couple scratches on my feet. Well worth it. And that was my last night in Singapore.
The next day I flew to Phuket in Thailand. While in Singapore, and if only for a few days, I can confidently say that I met some really great people who added some knowledge and substance to my life. So thank you all for that :)

We also went to the Marina Bay laser show.

The area filled with tall man-made steel trees are part of a S$350
million project to make Singapore the Botanical Garden capital of the
world. The structures are pretty impressive and the ambiance created
there resembles being in a fairytale from your favourite childhood book.
Surrounded with luscious gardens and hundreds of different plant
species growing right on the tree trunks, the park is nothing less but
impressive.

A not so sober goat with a sord...? :D
