Thanksgiving in England, Giving Thanks Nonetheless :)

Thanksgiving. I like this holiday because of what it tends to bring out in people. It's a good time to stop and look around at what we do have. Everyone in the world should take some time to be grateful for what they have and not only complain about they don't have.

It's true, you may not have all that you want, but I can bet that you have so much more to be thankful for than you think. We shouldn't need a day on the calendar to tell us to be grateful for what we have but hey, everyone needs a little nudge sometimes!

This year is coming to an end and although a lot has happened, I can't call any of it bad. All the things that have happened, have moved everything forward including time. And whether it's because I'm getting older or wiser, time is moving seemingly faster these days.

I hate to sound like a tree hugging hippy, which I kind of am, but even on this rainy, otherwise miserable day, I feel overjoyed with the world and life itself. I'm alive! Birds are singing, the sky is still above us, although polluted and grey, noisy and very sad at times, but it's still there. You're here as well and taking a breath after breath and you continue.

It's up to you make this rainy day happy for yourself and for those around you. The hurtful things that have happened to you are lessons and are now in the past. Leave them there. Learn to slowly detach yourself from them and treat them as experiences. And remember to breathe when you're feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes, all it takes is for you to close your eyes and breath in and breath out. Simple things.

So going back to being grateful for what we have, forgiveness comes to mind as well. I think these two ideas are intertwined in many cases because my feeling of gratitude is very much related to the tough times in my life and those who might have wronged me, which brings us to forgiveness. Wishing happiness to those who have wronged you in a genuine way. Is that possible? I guess anything can be possible but it all depends on you.

Whatever your story is and whatever might have happened in your life, more than likely, the tough times are the reasons you can feel more grateful for where you are right now. So stand up tall, lift your chin up and smile.

Thanks to everyone who's been there for me and especially thanks to those who weren't, I wouldn't be who I am now if it wasn't for the hard times.

Love, peace and happiness (even on a rainy day) ;)
