XXX Amsterdam

It has been a while since I've written any travel advice or any contemplations about life. I figured right now is as good time as ever to get back into the groove.

Amsterdam evenings by the canal
I am back in Amsterdam! I've been here for a few days already but today is my first day on my own again. It is a beautiful day and the sun is out, but unfortunately my traveler senses and the desire to actually travel, has certainly lost its appeal. Maybe it's because I got used to having someone there when traveling and just living so life otherwise seems a bit dull now. I know that there's a big beautiful world out there but I just need to find a place for me in it. I am a bit lost in terms of what I am doing after Amsterdam. I wish I had a grand plan of action but the only plan I have is to get fit again.

Having my surgery definitely slowed down my lifestyle but now it's time to stop being lazy and get fit, be active. That'll definitely give me a boost in the right direction. I need to decide what to do with myself, soon.

***A couple days later...

June in Amsterdam doesn't seem to be the best place to wear your light summer clothes since the weather is more reminiscent of spring than summer. The sun does seem to stick around quite late which is nice. People are out and about at 9pm and the sun is casting its beautiful orange and pink hues as it hides behind traditional three story residential buildings. Abercrombie & Fitch model looking tall, blonde, sharp-jawed men cycle past in their stylish jeans and sports jackets. Seemingly perfect, long-legged models effortlessly glide past me on their bicycles, while their perfectly quaffed hair cinematically blows in the wind. It's a lively place brewing with young, ambitious energy, yet the true Dutch Culture remains untouched and very much alive. You can get lost in the city or you can let it take you places you've never been to before.

So I guess it takes a little bit of getting lost to find a place worth seeing. What's a good adventure without some hard work though? Hard work always pays off. Maybe not always in the currency you expected, but you get rewarded in one way or another. So go out, get lost, discover, see beauty in more things, take it all in and watch a new world unfold in front of you.
