Vientiane: a busy city on the Mekong
A busy, overpriced city with lots of constructions going on, and not much character. We stayed at Youth Hostel 2 right by the Mekong River. The first night was spent walking around the city and realizing that there is not much to see here. The next day, I woke up early and went to the morning market. I got a couple things there and a delicious pineapple. After the market, Raquel and I walked to the bus station and headed to the Buddha Park, an hour outside of the city. While Sara and Miguel, as well as Yoann, rented a motorbike and did the same. We all met up with each other at the park. Later Raquel and I went to the Golden Temple and took in the beautiful architecture of the imitation of the Arc de Triumph. It was a lovely day followed by a nice dinner with everyone on a rooftop restaurant. Ok so I made it sound a bit nicer than it was. It was the second floor so not much of a view except for some street stalls across the street. Nonetheless, we had some good food and lots of laughs. Also we were honored to be a part of Sara and Miguel eight year anniversary of being together. Cheers to you both!! :) The next morning was time to split up even more. Sara and Miguel were heading down to Siem Reap through Thailand while Raquel, Yoann and I headed to see the Kong Lo Waterfalls. There were eight, then there were four(plus one) and now we were down to two(plus one). That's how traveling is though, you meet amazing people and then soon after, you have to let them go...
